Dumfries and County Golf Club is committed to the development of youth in the game of golf.

Our membership and programmes are designed to allow the Junior golfer the opportunity to learn, practice, play and enjoy the game of golf.

We believe that golf is a game that can be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Our goals are to introduce the game to novices, encourage the development of our more experienced players, and provide enjoyable outings for all participating Junior members.

James Erskine, our Head Professional and his Assistant Professionals Rory Brunton and Ryan Johnston, offer a wide variety of coaching options, open to the public as well as Junior club members.

As well as our outdoor practice / coaching area, the club have built an indoor, state of the art, indoor golfing studio, which allows our members to practice, if they wish, 365 days a year. There is no facility like it in this area, and will be of great benefit to our younger generation, for the forseeable future.

The most important aspects of providing coaching to our Junior members, is to enable each child to play golf to the best of his / her ability, and to contribute to the personal growth of each Junior by positive social and character values.

Areas of education and instruction will include ;

1) Rules of Golf

2) Swing Fundamentals :- this will include basic work regarding grip,
stance, aim and the swing itself.

3) Personal Confidence & Advancement :- instructing Juniors on
" professional - like " behaviour and respect
for the game, is important for future life.

4) The values of sportsmanship, honesty, integrity and respect for
opponents, will be discussed, in relation to both playing golf, and
real life situations.

The following annual subscriptions are available for Junior members :-

5 to 7 years of age  - £65

7 to 14 years of age - £115

14 to 18 years of age - £135

The above fee allows full access to the golf course and clubhouse, and allows your child / children to enter the many Junior competitions that are played throughout the year.

We have a strong track record of developing our Juniors through to a high standard, including previous members ( boys and girls ) who have represented their country. In recent times, two of our ex Junior members have left the Amateur ranks, and are now plying their trade on the European Tour, as Professional golfers.

Golf is a great sport for children, due to its physical and mental challenges, but it also teaches the children very important life skills, which Dumfries and County Golf Club and our Professional coaches, see to be as equally important, as their technical ability.
