On Saturday, 8th June, the Ladies Open Texas Scramble for the White Crystal Trophy took place under mixed weather conditions. The trio from Crichton Golf Club—Nicola Zambonini, Karen Reed, and Finn Edgar—clinched victory in dramatic fashion, winning by the narrowest of margins through the best last hole. In Memory of Houston Dickie
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Houston Dickie on 8th June 2025.
Houston was a long standing member of Dumfries and County Golf Club, having joined in April 1970. His dedication to the club was evident from the outset, quickly joining the committee and serving with distinction as Club Captain in 1977.
On behalf of the Captain, Committee, and all members of Dumfries and County Golf Club, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Houston’s family and friends at this difficult time.
A service to celebrate Houston’s life will be held at Roucan Loch Crematorium on Friday, 20th June at 1:00pm.

9th June – top dressing taking place this morning.
What is topdressing?
A layer of sand or a mixture of sand and other materials is spread across the turf. There are many different ways of applying it and, depending on the course, the greens team use it little and often with the aim of diluting the layer of organic material, known as thatch, that sits between the surface and the soil, improve the quality of the soil and drainage and maintain a smooth and true putting surface. All of this promotes a better grass plant and means a better putting surface.
The line ups for the semi finals has been decided.
The Loreburn Cup was played in challenging conditions this year and Alex Shand (D&C) claimed the trophy with a net score of 88-22=66, winning on the better inward half from Gordon Brown (D&C). Finlay Copland (D&G) posted the best gross score of the day with a 69.
