John Farrow
We are saddened to hear of the passing of John Farrow on 9th September 2025. John had been a member of Dumfries and County for almost 60 years, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. On behalf of everyone at the club, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
The Sir Henry Cotton Lifetime Achievement Award for Meritorious services to junior golf.
Our Head Professional has been awarded The Sir Henry Cotton Lifetime Achievement Award for Meritorious services to junior golf. 
James Attended the Golf Foundation Awards held at Wentworth in conjunction with The PGA Championship.
Golf Foundation President Nick Dougherty presented the award.
Our Junior programmes and facility development were highly commended.
James thanked “the many staff members, sponsors, and donors who have made it possible to deliver these opportunities – often at no cost – for over 20 years.
In particular, I’d like to acknowledge The Stanley Morrison Charitable Trust – Tim, Maggie, and the Trustees – whose incredible support has played a vital role in growing the sport here in Southwest Scotland.
A heartfelt thank you to Titleist, whose unwavering commitment to junior golf has been a cornerstone of our work. I’m truly grateful to have such a fantastic partner backing our future stars.
And finally, to my golf club – Dumfries and County – thank you for giving me the freedom and trust to build and grow our facilities & junior programmes.”
Johnstone Cup Results

Congratulations to Allen Barwise (Carlisle) & Catherine Ruffle (Haltwhistle), who claimed 1st place with an impressive 46 points!
A strong group of local players finished on 41 points, with: Eric & Karen Henderson taking 2nd place on the best last 6 holes
Mike McCormick & Jo Shearer just behind on the better inward half over Andrew & Karen Reed
Also on 41 points and just outside the prizes were Robbie & Margaret Marshall – great effort!

George Adams
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of George Adams, who left us on Wednesday, 20th August 2025.
George became a member of the County in October 1965, and remained a cherished part of our Club for an incredible 60 years. Over the decades, he contributed immensely—serving on the committee for several years and proudly taking on the role of Club Captain in 2006.
George was truly one of life’s great characters. His warmth, humour, and presence brought joy to all who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed around the Golf Club.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
