Members are reminded that Notices of Motion and nominations for Office Bearers must be submitted to the Club Administrator no later than:
Wednesday 28th October 2026
All adult members are encouraged to attend.
Join us at the Club for a fantastic Race Night, with all profits going towards the purchase of a new defibrillator for the clubhouse, which will need to be replaced in 2027.
There will be seven exciting races, followed by a special eighth race where the horses will be auctioned off, with some great prizes up for grabs.

Get ready for a spooktacular afternoon of Halloween fun at the Club!
Crazy Connor will be providing the entertainment, with plenty of fun and laughter for the children. Come along in your best Halloween costume and enjoy a fantastic afternoon with family and friends.
The Halloween celebrations continue into the evening with our Adults’ Halloween Party from 8.00pm.
Local entertainer John Scott will provide the evening’s entertainment, bringing his wealth of experience to the Club for what promises to be a great night.

We extend our sincere thanks to all members and guests who joined us for this year’s Annual Prizegiving. Your presence and support helped create a warm, celebratory atmosphere befitting the achievements of our players during the season at Dumfries & County Golf Club.
This season has been another successful one for the Club, and that success is built on the dedication of many people. We are deeply grateful to the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure the Club runs smoothly. Their behind‑the‑scenes efforts create the environment that allows our members to enjoy their golf and our competitions to flourish.
Our appreciation also goes to our Captains for leading the presentations and recognising the achievements of our winners. Thank you to Gents Captain Walter Flager, Vice Captain Ross Laidlaw, Ladies Captain Jane Carrick, Vice Captain Jenni Brown, and of course our Junior Captain Mitchell Jardine who has the junior prizegiving on Sat 24th October to look forward to.

Greens aeration work is currently being carried out this week on all greens except the 13th and 14th, which recently underwent the VGR TopChanger demonstration.
The hollow coring process removes excess organic matter from the upper rootzone, creating space for improved air and water movement throughout the soil profile. Following coring, sand is brushed into the holes to aid drainage, improve gas exchange around the roots and help maintain a firmer, healthier putting surface.
This work complements the recent Wiedenmann and Toro ProCore 648 solid tine aeration operations and forms part of our ongoing programme to improve the long-term health and performance of the greens.
We appreciate members’ patience while the greens recover and look forward to the benefits these essential maintenance practices will bring.
In early September as part of the greens maintenance, a combination of deep and shallow aeration techniques was carried out simultaneously on all greens. The Wiedenmann deep aerator, operated with a tractor, was used to penetrate deeply into the soil profile, relieving compaction in the rootzone, improving drainage, and creating channels for air, water and nutrients to move more effectively through the soil.
At the same time, a Toro ProCore 648 was used to perform shallow surface tining. This operation targeted the upper rootzone, creating a high volume of smaller holes to improve gas exchange, encourage healthy root development, and maintain surface firmness without causing significant disruption to play.
Working in tandem on the 1st and 6th greens allowed both deep and shallow aeration to be completed efficiently, with the same treatment subsequently applied across all greens on the course ( video of 1st green tining). The dual approach provides benefits throughout the entire soil profile, helping to reduce layering, alleviate compaction at different depths, enhance drainage performance, and promote stronger, healthier turf growth going into the autumn and winter period.
This integrated aeration programme is an important part of maintaining year-round playing quality and ensuring the long-term health of the greens.
