Head Greenkeeper Steven Knaggs showcases the progress on the 13th green following the algae formation in March. The germination mats have been removed, and the recovery process is still underway.
Junior Captain Ben Carmichael and Vice Captain Mitchell Jardine kicked off the junior season on Sunday under beautiful sunny skies, we wish them well for the season ahead. Brennan Henry emerged victorious in the opening day competition, scoring an impressive 40 points. Alfie watson was equally impressive with 46 pts off the blue tees and Duncan Cameron had 16pts in the 9 hole blue tees.
The junior section at Dumfries and County is currently at full capacity, and we are excited to see all our juniors develop this year and in the future. With the new academy facility now open and coaching programs led by James and his team, there are fantastic opportunities for all our juniors to progress.
It was a spectacular morning for the Captain’s Drive-In! A huge thank you to everyone who came along to witness Captain Martyn Bennett officially launch the new season. We wish Martyn a fantastic year ahead, alongside his Vice Captain Walter Flager, Lady Captain Morven Gordon, Lady Vice Captain Jane Carrick, Junior Captain Ben Carmichael, and Junior Vice Captain Mitchell Jardine. Here’s to a great season for them all!
This year Martyn Bennett (Captain) and Morven Gordon (Lady Captain) have nominated the Better Lives Partnership and Maggies as their chosen charities. We would ask if you are in a bunker at the front of the 18th green to please make a donation to the charities. There is a collection box next to the terminal in the hall, all the money collected will be presented to the charities at the end of the season.
Better Lives Partnership – is a registered charity in Dumfries and Galloway that supports autistic young adults and those with additional support needs. It is their mission to enable autistic people to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives by using a person-centered approach to develop unique opportunities that incorporate; employability, skills, work experience and enterprise which may result in the young person obtaining employment, further training or a volunteering role.
Maggies – Maggie’s offers the best possible support free to anyone with cancer and their families who walk through our doors. You’ll find our centres alongside NHS hospitals and we can also support anyone online.
We help people take back control when cancer turns life upside down, with professional support for anything from treatment side effects to money worries.
All our support is free and you don’t need an appointment or referral – just come in.
A big thank you to tree surgeon Jason McGill and his team for their expert work in safely removing the decayed trees from the car park. The images reveal just how much rot had set in, proving they would have posed a serious hazard in the future. Their efforts have helped prevent potential risks and ensured the area remains safe for everyone.
A fantastic evening on Tuesday for our grand Academy opening.
We are delighted to bring this facility to our membership. This will play a pivotal role in evolving our junior section and add more value to our membership.
